If your teeth feel clean but still look dull or stained, Airflow polishing could be exactly what you need.
Available at Amwell Street Dental Practice in Hoddesdon, it's one of the most effective ways to remove stubborn surface staining — quickly, gently, and in a single appointment.
What is Airflow Polishing?
Airflow is a professional stain removal system that uses a controlled jet of warm water, air and fine powder to painlessly blast away surface stains that ordinary cleaning methods can't shift. It's particularly effective on staining caused by coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking.
Unlike traditional polishing, Airflow is gentle enough for sensitive teeth.
What to Expect
Your Airflow treatment takes around 20–30 minutes and is completely comfortable for most patients. You'll notice the difference immediately — teeth look noticeably brighter and feel thoroughly clean straight after the appointment.
For even greater results, combine Airflow with our professional teeth whitening treatment (from £297) to tackle both surface staining and deeper discolouration in one go.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Airflow Right for Me?
Airflow is suitable for most patients, including those with sensitive teeth who find a standard clean uncomfortable.
Patients with a lot of tartar build up/gum disease may not be suitable until a future date when this has been stabilised.
If you're unsure whether Airflow is suitable for you, our hygienist Dal will be happy to advise at your next appointment.
Does Airflow hurt?
No. Most patients find it more comfortable than a traditional scale and polish. The water jet is warm and the powder is very fine, making it a gentle experience even for sensitive teeth.
How long does it take?
Around 20–30 minutes, often added to the end of a standard hygienist appointment.
How much does it cost?
Airflow can be added for £18. Please note you may need a longer hygiene appt as a result - this may mean a pro rata increase for that. Ask our reception team when booking.
How often should I have it?
Once or twice a year is typical, in line with regular hygienist visits.
Can it replace teeth whitening?
Airflow removes surface staining but doesn't change the underlying colour of your enamel. For a deeper whitening result, it works best combined with our professional whitening treatment.
Serving Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Ware, Hertford, Cheshunt and Nazeing.
