Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are medical grade pure titanium fixtures that embed into the jaw bone. A crown is then attached to the implant and this is probably the closest thing to a real tooth you can get. You can have have a bridge or even a full denture retained by multiple implants.

What are the timeframes involved?

After placement of the implant, a few months are required for the implant to integrate with the bone before placement of the crown. If a tooth is extracted, then additional time of a few months is required for healing of the socket prior to placement of the implant. The whole process from consultation to the placement of the implant crown can take 6 months up to a year depending on the amount of treatment needed.

How do I proceed?

The first step would be let us know so we can get you booked in with our very experienced implant surgeon, Dr. Ravi Kumar, to plan treatment. The surgeon will discuss in detail your various options, costs as well as the pros/cons of each. Most importantly, you’ll have the chance to ask as many questions as you need.
Usually, a  3D CBCT scan would then be required so the implant surgeon can fully assess the area for an implant. From this your treatment can be planned carefully.
If a tooth needs to be extracted, this will usually be done by the surgeon for better preservation of the bone for implant placement.
Our main ethos is providing excellent care based on transparency and honesty.
